Chief Financial Officer Tony Wagner recently announced two additions to his area’s leadership team, naming Jason Atuaia Deputy Chief Financial Officer and Allison Nicholson the Chief of Staff to the Enterprise CFO.

Atuaia will oversee the Budget Office and Controller’s Office, as well as the Academic and Support Unit Budget and Finances. He will assist Wagner with advancing financial strategy, planning and stewardship across the university. Nicholson will help provide leadership support, coordination and alignment of priorities.

Wagner noted that these appointments come at an important moment for the University of Utah.

“As we continue to grow in size and complexity, our financial operations must also evolve,” Wagner said in the announcement shared with Financial Services employees on Sept. 8. “Our goal is to ensure consistent, transparent and high-quality financial services that support the university’s mission of teaching, research and service.”

As Financial Services – and the university as a whole – enters a period of transformation and enhancement, there is a specific focus on strengthening coordination to ensure consistent, transparent and high-quality support to campus.

“I want to emphasize that while specific initiatives will unfold over time, what remains constant is our commitment to collaboration, communication and service,” Wagner said. “I look forward to the important work ahead as we continue to build a strong and sustainable financial future for the University of Utah.”
